Being At One with Ourselves

If when we are depressed, we allow ourselves to be depressed. If when we are bored we allow ourselves to be bored. If when we are feeling embarrassed we allow ourselves to feel embarrassed, then we will experience being at one with ourselves, and when we are at one with ourselves, we will feel immense enjoyment. However our normal state of affairs is that when we are feeling depressed or bored or embarrassed, the last thing we think of doing is to allow ourselves to feel the emotion. We will react, and complain, and judge and criticise ourselves. This sets up a lot of turmoil and division in ourselves, the opposite of a sense of oneness. This reaction is a very strong habit of ours, which has such a negative effect on our lives and stops our enjoyment of life. We were never educated to let things be. It is the habit more than anything else which is our biggest obstacle to a more intelligent response when we feel stuck.
